Connecting Other Apps
How to connect apps that HAID doesn't directly support using Apple Health or Google Fit.
Many fitness and health apps aren't directly integrated with HAID, but you can still get your data into HAID by using Apple Health or Google Fit as an intermediary.
How It Works
Most fitness apps can sync their data to Apple Health (iOS) or Google Fit (Android). Since HAID connects to both platforms, your data flows automatically:
Your App → Apple Health / Google Fit → HAID
This means you don't need to wait for a direct integration. If your app syncs to Apple Health or Google Fit, it should work with HAID.
Setup Steps
For iOS Users (Apple Health)
- Open your fitness app's settings
- Look for "Apple Health", "Health App", or "Connected Apps"
- Enable syncing to Apple Health
- In HAID, connect Apple Health if you haven't already
- Your data will start flowing through automatically
For Android Users (Google Fit)
- Open your fitness app's settings
- Look for "Google Fit", "Connected Apps", or "Sync"
- Enable syncing to Google Fit
- In HAID, connect Google Fit if you haven't already
- Your data will start flowing through automatically
Apps That Work This Way
These popular apps can sync to Apple Health or Google Fit:
- Nike Run Club: Syncs runs and workouts
- Runkeeper: Syncs activities and routes
- Oura: Syncs sleep, readiness, and activity
- Whoop: Syncs strain, recovery, and sleep
- Coros: Syncs activities and training data
- Suunto: Syncs activities and routes
- Samsung Health: Syncs to Google Fit on Android
- MyFitnessPal: Syncs nutrition and weight
- Peloton: Syncs workouts
- Strava: Syncs activities (check your app settings)
If your app isn't listed but has a "sync to Apple Health" or "sync to Google Fit" option, it should work the same way.
What Data Comes Through
When data passes through Apple Health or Google Fit, some information transfers better than others.
Apple Health Passthrough
| Data Type | What Transfers | What's Limited |
|---|---|---|
| Workouts | Duration, calories, type | GPS routes don't transfer from third-party apps |
| Heart Rate | Readings during activities | — |
| Steps | Daily totals | — |
| Sleep | Duration, time in bed | Sleep stages may be simplified or missing |
| HRV | Limited | Most apps can't write HRV to Apple Health |
| Workout Details | Basic metrics | Cadence, power, elevation often missing |
Google Fit Passthrough
| Data Type | What Transfers | What's Limited |
|---|---|---|
| Activities | Duration, calories, type | GPS routes often don't sync through |
| Heart Rate | Readings during activities | — |
| Steps | Daily totals | — |
| Sleep | Duration | Sleep stages vary by source app |
| HRV | Very limited | Not widely supported in Google Fit |
| Detailed Metrics | Basic data only | Some metrics require specific API scopes |
Why Some Data Is Missing
When third-party apps write to Apple Health or Google Fit, they use standardized formats that don't always include everything. For example:
- GPS routes are stored differently than workout summaries, and many apps don't write route data
- HRV requires special permissions that most apps don't have
- Sleep stages use different classification systems across apps
This is a platform limitation, not something HAID can fix.
Want Complete Data?
If you need all your data (including routes and detailed metrics), consider:
- Direct integration: Use a device with native HAID support like Garmin, Polar, or Fitbit
- Manual export: Export FIT/TCX/GPX files from your app and email them to [email protected]
Still Need Your App Supported?
If the passthrough doesn't work for you, open HAID and go to Settings → Integrations to request direct support for your app. We prioritize integrations based on user requests.
