Body Measurements
Track your weight, body composition, and trends over time with HAID.
Body Measurements lets you track weight, BMI, body fat percentage, and other body composition metrics over time. You can add data manually, sync it from a health app, or use the Pro Scan feature to extract values from a report photo.
Tracked Metrics
HAID supports the following body composition metrics:
- Weight (kg / lb)
- BMI (Body Mass Index)
- Body Fat Percentage (%)
- Lean Body Mass (kg / lb)
- Muscle Mass (kg / lb)
- Bone Mass (kg / lb)
- Body Water Percentage (%)
- Waist Circumference (cm / in)
- Height (cm / ft)
Not all metrics need to be filled in. You can track just weight, or add as much detail as your devices and scales provide.
How to Add Data
There are three ways to get body composition data into HAID.
1. Manual Entry
The simplest way. Open Body Measurements in the app, tap the + button, and choose Add manually. Enter your weight and any additional metrics you want to track. You can also backdate entries if you forgot to log them.
2. Health App Sync (Recommended)
If you have a smart scale (Withings, Eufy, Renpho, Xiaomi, Garmin, Fitbit, etc.), the easiest path is to let it sync through your phone's health platform:
On iPhone (Apple Health):
- Set up your smart scale's companion app and connect it to Apple Health
- In HAID, go to Settings → Integrations → Apple Health
- Make sure body measurement permissions are enabled
Your scale syncs to its app, the app writes to Apple Health, and HAID reads from Apple Health. Data flows automatically.
On Android (Google Health Connect):
- Set up your smart scale's companion app and connect it to Health Connect
- In HAID, go to Settings → Integrations → Google Fit
- Grant the requested permissions
Same idea: scale app → Health Connect → HAID.
Direct integrations: If you use a Garmin or Fitbit device with a compatible scale, body metrics sync directly through those integrations without needing Apple Health or Google Health Connect as a middleman.
3. Pro Scan
Pro subscription required. Scan a photo or PDF of a body composition report (from a smart scale display, DEXA scan, lab printout, etc.) and HAID extracts the metrics automatically using AI.
- Open Body Measurements and tap the + button
- Choose Scan report
- Take a photo, pick one from your gallery, or upload a PDF
- HAID reads the report and pre-fills the values
- Review the extracted data, adjust if needed, and save
Tips for better scans:
- Make sure the text on the report is legible and well-lit
- Avoid glare on screens (tilt your phone slightly when photographing a scale display)
- Crop the image to the relevant data area if possible
- PDFs from lab reports tend to work best
Viewing Your Data
The Body Measurements screen shows:
- Weight chart with selectable time ranges (1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, all time)
- Body composition section with your latest values for each tracked metric
- Trends showing how your weight has changed over your selected period
Units follow your preference (metric or imperial), which you can change in Settings → Preferences → Units.
Limitations
- BMI is calculated, not measured. HAID computes BMI from your weight and height. If your height is not set, BMI won't appear. You can set your height in the Body Measurements screen.
- No dietary tracking. HAID tracks body composition signals but does not log food, calories, or macros.
- Sync depends on source. If your smart scale app hasn't synced to Apple Health or Google Health Connect, HAID won't have the data yet. Check your scale's app if values seem missing.
- Pro Scan accuracy. The AI does its best to read reports, but results depend on image quality. Always review extracted values before saving.
- Not medical advice. Body composition data in HAID is for personal tracking only. HAID does not diagnose conditions or make health recommendations based on these metrics.
FAQ
My smart scale data isn't showing up. What do I do?
Check the chain: Scale → Scale app → Apple Health / Health Connect → HAID.
- Open your scale's companion app and verify the latest reading appears there
- Open Apple Health (or Health Connect) and check that weight/body data is visible
- Open HAID and pull down to trigger a sync
If data is in Apple Health but not HAID, go to Settings → Integrations → Apple Health and make sure body measurement permissions are granted.
Can I delete a measurement?
Not directly in the app yet. If you need a measurement removed, contact [email protected].
How often should I weigh in?
That's up to you. Daily weigh-ins give the best trend data (weight fluctuates day to day, so more data points smooth out the noise). Weekly works fine too. HAID adapts to whatever cadence you prefer.
Does HAID support multiple scales?
Yes. HAID doesn't care where the data comes from. If you have a home scale syncing through Apple Health and a gym scale where you enter data manually, both entries show up in the same timeline.
What's the difference between Lean Body Mass and Muscle Mass?
Lean body mass is everything except fat: muscles, bones, organs, water. Muscle mass is specifically skeletal muscle. Not all scales report both, so you may see one or the other depending on your device.
