Langstrath Fell Race
The Langstrath Fell Race is a challenging 7.5 km fell race with 430m of climb, starting and finishing at The Langstrath Country Inn in Stonethwaite, near Keswick. The race is categorized as AS NS, indicating it has less than 20% road, at least 50m of climb per kilometre, is under 10km, and requires some navigational skill.
Entries are on the day only with an entry fee of £8.00. Competitors must complete an entry form and confirm they have read it. While specific kit requirements are at the discretion of the Race Organiser for this short 'A' race, runners are advised to bring a full set of FRA kit, including waterproof whole body cover, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle, and emergency food. Kit checks may be carried out, and requirements may be relaxed if the weather is judged to be good, but conditions can change rapidly.
The course starts outside the Langstrath Country Inn, proceeding through village streets, rough tracks, and a steep stepped climb to open fell. A flagged section must be followed after Dock Tarn due to the area being an SSSI. The route includes marshalled points at Dock Tarn and Watendlath, a section on a broad path towards Rosthwaite, and a return to the village finish. Prize money and age-category awards are offered, along with team prizes.
