Sunshine Run 5K: Newcastle Quayside, 17 June 2026
The Sunshine Run 5K returns for its 23rd year! Join us on Wednesday 17th June for a run along Newcastle Quayside with an iconic photo finish in front of the Tyne bridges. The event features a flat and fast route suitable for runners of all abilities, whether you are a club runner or a fun runner.
Entry includes a t-shirt, a medal, and chip timing. Additional fundraising is encouraged but not required. All proceeds support children living with disabilities, additional needs, and terminal illness through the provision of specialist equipment.
Race Times (subject to change):
6:00pm - Entertainment
6:40pm - Warm up
6:55pm - Runners to start line
7:00pm - Run begins
Start & Finish line: Pitcher and Piano, Newcastle Quayside, NE1 3DX.
Facilities: Bag drop available from 5:45pm, toilets, and post-race water.
Race Information: Event information will be sent via email and posted in the race Facebook group @TheSunshineRun5K. Minimum age for entries is 15 years. No refunds can be issued after the event entry closing date of Sunday 3rd of May. Should the event be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, all runners will receive a refund of their paid entry price. The run will go ahead in all weather conditions unless deemed dangerous or unsafe by the Met Office.
This event is run under UKA Rules for Competition and is licenced by England Athletics (#30942).
