The MTC Winter Green Man Ultra
The Winter Green Man Ultra is a challenging winter edition of the Green Man Ultra, set around Bristol's Community Forest Path. Participants can choose between a 45-mile or a 30-mile route, both run anti-clockwise. The event offers self-navigation with GPX files and written directions, chip timing, and pacers available for various target times (9, 10, 11, and 12 hours for the 45-mile, and similar for the 30-mile). The course is known for being muddy in winter, offering a different experience compared to the firmer summer version.
There are four staffed checkpoints for the full loop (45 miles) and two for the shorter route (30 miles). Aid stations provide water, squash, cola, and snacks, with hot food available at the finish. The race is cup-free, requiring participants to carry their own reusable cup. Mandatory kit, including a backpack, head torch, maps, compass/GPS, and a first aid kit, will be checked.
Entrants must be at least 20 years old. Finishers receive a bespoke technical T-shirt, a medal, and a signed certificate. Completing both the winter and summer 45-mile events in the same year earns a cumulative GMU buckle based on combined time.
