Event Description
The Chilterns Trail Marathon is a guided trail run over 42.2 km (26.2 miles) through the Chiltern Hills. The route uses parts of the Ridgeway as well as lesser known paths, nature reserves and sections that pass through Wendover Woods. The terrain includes technical single-track trails and more popular local routes, with rolling hills and around 500 m of ascent.
Events are led by English Athletics qualified Run Leaders who handle navigation, offer technique tips and provide group support. Participants are grouped by ability; the organiser asks that runners can complete a half marathon on the flat in under 2.5 hours. Due to the time of year, trail shoes are mandatory.
The day features a well stocked refreshment point with up to three refreshment stops, and finishers receive a wooden Run the Wild medal and a Trees not Tees certificate. The start location is the Iron Room near Tring Station; rail access is a short walk from the venue and paid parking is available at Tring Station.
The event will finish by around 3pm depending on your pace.
