West Coast Half Marathon
The West Coast is a point-to-point half marathon that starts at Preston Docks and finishes at Fairhaven Lake in Lytham St Annes. Race headquarters and the main meeting point are at Fairhaven Lake. The course is described as flat and follows the Guild Wheel, then continues through Freckleton and Warton into Lytham St Annes for the finish.
The event is limited to 650 runners. Shuttle buses operate from Fairhaven Lake to the start in Preston; there is no other event transport to the start and there are no buses after the race. Entry is available only online, is open to anyone aged over 17 on race day, and uses chip timing. Finishers receive a bespoke medal and a technical T-shirt. Bottled water is provided on the course and at the finish. Portable toilets are located at the start, the finish, and around 6 and 9 miles on the route.
Bibs and timing chips are issued on race day at the designated collection points; chips are pre-attached and must not be folded or damaged. An unmanned baggage drop and a key lock-box are provided; valuables should not be left in the baggage area. Medical support patrols the course and is based at the finish. Results showing gun and chip times are published on the event website. Transfers and deferrals are possible with conditions and fees for late changes.
