The Ghostly Gallop
The Ghostly Gallop is an offroad running event held within the grounds of Pengethley Manor, Ross-on-Wye. Entrants choose one target distance and must complete it within a seven hour time limit. Each lap is 2.5k and the course includes a short hill on every lap plus a series of ups and downs through two vineyards. The organisers describe the route as very tough; it is suitable for walkers and runners.

The event offers both in-person and virtual options. Race bibs are collected at registration for in-person entrants; virtual entrants receive a personalised virtual bib by email after entry. Paid virtual entrants can have a physical medal posted after run verification; international postage may incur an extra charge. Free virtual participation is possible and will be included in the results list if submitted via the event Strava club or with acceptable proof of the run.
Entry fees are stated as Race Entry £29.00, Virtual UK Entry £25.00, and Virtual Overseas Entry £39.00. A charity entry option is available for £10.00 provided the entrant commits to raising at least twice that amount for the nominated charity and meets the fundraising deadline. Event Information
The Ghostly Gallop:
- Race start is at 10:00
- You have 7 hours to complete your chosen run distance
- Each Lap is 2.5k in distance.
- Suitable for walkers and runners.
- The course is offroad, all within the grounds of Pengethley Manor, and very tough. But hey, tough is fun! There is a bit of a hill, which will be run on each lap, and a series of up and downs through two vineyards.
You chose your distance - each day has the option of a 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, Marathon or Ultra.
The Halloween Bibs:
- You will collect your race bib on the day of the race at registration.
- Virtual Bibs: Once you have entered the event, we will email you a personalised virtual Bib as a keepsake. It may take a day or two to receive the virtual Bib, but it should be with you before the event date starts.

CHARITY OPTION - and get a discounted place?
You can enter any combination of days for a total £10.00 entry fee plus booking charges, which will confirm your entry either as a race competitor or as a virtual runner. But this is on the basis that you commit to raising a minimum of twice the entry fee value for our nominated charity to make your entry valid. In addition the money needs to be raised at least four weeks before the event date.
