Camuplodunum
The Camuplodunum is a long distance route that encircles the town of Colchester (known as Camulodunum in Roman times) and covers a total distance of 28.6 miles. The route passes through field paths, woodland, a sea wall, prehistoric defence earthworks, a conservation valley, riverside sections and some urban stretches. Navigation is self directed using a downloadable GPX file or written instructions.
The event includes fully stocked aid stations and checkpoints spaced at approximately every 10 km. It is organised as a cupless event, so participants must provide their own drinking cup; collapsible speedcups are available to purchase during registration or on the day for £2.50 each. A cut off time of 7.5 hours applies for the marathon distance.
The start and finish location is Bannatyne Gym & Spa, Kingsford Park, Layer Road, Colchester CO2 0HS. The venue provides free parking and toilet facilities for the day, and on-site bars and restaurants will be open for participants and spectators. The organiser offers a tiered entry fee structure that allows participants to opt out of a medal or t shirt to reduce the base entry cost for the marathon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
