ACORN South By Five - Queens Park
This sign up is for ONE EVENT ONLY - not the full series.
Our signature series, South By Five returns. Based on the iconic Glasgow race, The South Side Six, South By Five visits each of the six parks over a 12 week period. A 5km event is held in each park, with runners able to enter single events or the whole series.
5 of the 6 races must be completed to complete the series and become a "Fiver"!
The six parks are: Kings Park – Sunday 1st November Linn Park – Sunday 15th November Rouken Glen – Sunday 29th November Pollok Park – Sunday 13th December Bellahouston Park – Sunday 3rd January Queens Park – Sunday 17th January
All races will start at 10.30am
The final race will be followed by a gathering and prize giving at a local bowling club, close to Queens Park.
We've streamlined the entry process allowing runners to also select a full series entry. If you enter the whole series, please note this comes with a big caveat...If you fail to attend two of the first three events, your series entry will be withdrawn and offered to the waiting list - no refund and no quarter given! We're just trying to cut down on people wasting a well coveted entry spot on the off chance they are available, and the ifs, buts, and maybes. And also reduce the amount of race admin! Thanks for your assistance in this matter.
Pricing
All races are free to enter. Places are limited so please only sign up if you intend to run. If your circumstances change, please let us know, we're happy to transfer places and may also have a waiting list.
Whilst race entry is free, there will be a mandatory minimum donation to the Acorn Trails Community Fund. This fund enables us to help develop the grassroots of the sport, train coaches and first aiders, donate to local good causes and invest in the trails and parks which enable our routes to be so amazing and fun.
If your circumstances mean you're unable to afford to enter, please contact us directly, discretion ensured!
If you are able we would like to encourage entrants to bring donations to the local foodbank in lieu of an entry fee.
Options
As with all Acorn Trails events there will be various additional options available during the sign-up process. Sx5 merch options are also available at sign up. Merch will only be available to order on entries made before August 31st.
Charity
As per the previous South By Five, we’re staying local with our charity and once again supporting Give A Dog A Bone….and an animal a home.
They help support over 60s to afford a pet rescue companion. Tackling loneliness for the individual and homelessness for the animal, by removing the financial barriers to an over 60s person adopting a rescue animal.
They are based in Shawlands, less than a mile from Acorn HQ – now that’s supporting local!
Litter Pick
There will be an organised litter pick for each park that the series visits – it’s nice to put something back into the parks we use. Details on times and dates will be made available closer to the time. Acorn Trails conduct regular litter picks – find out more in the “We Care” section of our website
