About the Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk
The Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk Series honors the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001. He ran 3 miles through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. We honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, by supporting our first responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty. This is our 5th year in Metro Detroit, and we are excited to once again bring together the community to honor first responders, remember 9/11, and raise funds for the Tunnel to Towers programs.
Event Details
- Distance: 5K (approximately 3.1 miles)
- Activities: Run or walk. Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted. Firefighter turnout gear and military backpacks are also permitted.
- Parking: $10 daily pass per vehicle (unless you have a Metropark Annual Pass).
- Bib Number: Must be worn on the front of your outermost garment.
- Timing: The event will be timed.
- Water: Available along the route and at the start/finish line.
Packet Pickup
Early Packet Pick Up: Thursday, 9/10, from 4-8 PM at Texas Roadhouse, 44887 Mound Rd, Sterling Heights, MI 48314. A portion of the proceeds from dine-in or to-go orders that mention T2T will be donated.
Registration
- Day-of Registration: Available, but shirts and sizes are not guaranteed.
- Online Registration: Closes on race day. Late registrants may not receive t-shirts or race day swag.
- Transfers: Registrations may be transferred to another person before Thursday, September 10th. Contact [email protected] for assistance.
- Refunds: No refunds are provided. This is a rain or shine event, but may be cancelled for unsafe weather conditions.
Fundraising & Donations
- Registration fees offset event expenses, with at least 75% supporting T2T programs. 100% of fundraising efforts go directly to programs.
- Fundraising incentives are offered. Must be received by November 15, 2026, to qualify.
- Donations are accepted for 6 weeks after the event.
