Total Coastal Ultra & Half Marathon
The Total Coastal event offers two challenging scenic multi-terrain races on the South West Coast Path.
50km Ultra
Starting in Kingswear, South Devon, this ultra covers 50km with approximately 7,000 ft of ascent. The route includes varied terrain, from country lanes to technical coast path trails, with a section of tarmac between Goodrington Beach and Torquay Harbour. Navigation relies on following the coast path Acorn signposts, with marshals and extra signs at difficult points. Runners are advised to have the route GPX uploaded to their device. There are four aid stations along the route. The event is cupless, requiring participants to bring their own cup or bottle. Mandatory kit includes a mobile phone, water bottle (min 1L), showerproof jacket, route GPX, emergency cash, and basic food. Finishers receive a bespoke medal. The cut-off time is 6:00 PM (10 hours 15 mins). Minimum age is 21.
Half Marathon
This 13.1-mile race starts at Preston Green near Paignton, with approximately 3,000 ft of ascent. The initial part of the route is on tarmac until Torquay Harbour, after which it transitions to trails. Similar to the ultra, navigation follows the coast path and sea. There are two aid stations along the route. Mandatory kit includes a mobile phone, water bottle (min 500ml), and a showerproof jacket.
Both events are cupless and require participants to carry their own cup or bottle. Optional event T-shirts are available for purchase.
