The Sunrise to Sunset Challenge
The Sunrise to Sunset Challenge is an annual running event held at Shrewsbury Sports Village. Entering its 19th year, the event is organised by How Hard Can It Be Events and offers multiple distance options so runners can choose how far to go between sunrise and sunset. The winner is the participant who records the greatest distance covered during that period.
The course follows a purpose-built 1 km cycle track. Lap cards are used and stamped each lap to record distance. Onsite provisions include music and a range of food and drinks. The venue is a leisure centre with facilities such as a cafe and toilets.
Available race options:
- 5K
- 10K
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
- Ultra
Entry prices are listed from GBP 28.00 to GBP 45.00 depending on the chosen distance. The event format emphasises repeated laps, frequent passes by aid stations and organisers, and a measured course that supports both set-distance entries and continuous ultrarunning within the event timeframe. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
How far will that Christmas turkey power you...Choice of 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon and all-day Ultrarunning
Entering its 19th year The Annual Sunrise to Sunset Challenge will be held in Shrewsbury again at The Shrewsbury Cycle Track Run as far as you can between Sunrise and Sunset – be it a 5k, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon, or Ultra, get your lap card stamped every lap and have fun.
There will be music, food and drinks galore to keep you entertained during the day and to push you towards your end-of-year challenge target.
The idea of the race is for runners to run as far as they can (or want to) between the hours of Sunrise (8.20) and Sunset (16.01), the winner being the runner who records the furthest distance. The race follows a purpose-built 1 km cycle track. From experience, this is a fast course and of course, the big hill from Lightmoor has been flattened out somewhat!
