The Saltmarsh Half Marathon
The Saltmarsh Half Marathon is scheduled for 18 April 2027 and starts at South Woodham Ferrers Rugby Club. The course follows the Saltmarsh Coast trail along the River Crouch to Burnham on Crouch and finishes at Riverside Park. The route is mostly off road and is open to runners and walkers with a four hour cut off.
The course will be fully waymarked and a GPX file will be issued nearer the event to reflect any adjustments. On-course support includes a water stop at 3.5 miles and full aid stations at 5.5 miles and 9.8 miles. Aid stations will offer a variety of sweet and savoury snacks, including jelly babies, flapjacks, fruit, nuts and products from Tribe and Chia Charge, plus squash and flat coke; staff can refill flasks or reusable cups.
This event operates a cupless policy to reduce plastic waste; participants are asked to bring their own flask, cup or hydration bladder. Reusable cups are available to purchase during registration and on race day. A bag transfer bus will carry items from the start to the finish. A pre-race shuttle will run from Riverside Park, Burnham on Crouch to the start at SWF Rugby Club; tickets are available at registration and numbers are limited. Nearby car parks serve the start and finish; the rugby club is for drop off only. The event is UKA affiliated and holds a permit from the Trail Running Association. There will be no excuse for littering given the ability to dispose of any unwanted rubbish at each aid station. We would like to continue to return to this venue regularly and constant littering might make this difficult.
