Event Description
The Cheyenne Mountain Run features three scenic trail races inside Cheyenne Mountain State Park:
- 25K Mountain Challenge – for advanced trail runners
- 10K Trail Race – for experienced runners
- 5K Run/Walk – a friendly, accessible option for all levels, including beginners
Each race uses color‑coded bibs.
Start Details
- Location: Limekiln Trailhead
- Start Time: 7:00 AM (staggered start) - 25K first, 10K next, 5K last. Fastest runners will start first with their race distance and walkers last.
- All races are chip timed.
- Poles: Not allowed.
25K Course Overview
- Start Elevation: 6,000 ft
- Max Elevation: ~9,450 ft
- Total Elevation Gain/Loss: ~3,450 ft
- Course: Talon → North Talon → Dixon Trail → Mountain Loop (clockwise) → return via Dixon → North Talon → Talon.
- Cutoff Times: Dixon Saddle (mile ~5.8): 8:45 AM cutoff. Top of Dixon Aid Station & Split Timing: closes at 10:00 AM. Finish Line Timing: closes at 12:00 PM.
10K Course Overview
- Out Talon Trail to the second South Talon junction. Counterclockwise loop on South Talon. Return via Talon → Sundance → finish.
- Aid Stations: Talon/Sundance and Talon/North Talon.
5K Course Overview
- Talon → Sundance (~1.4 miles) → Turkey Trot → Talon → finish.
- Aid Station: Talon/Sundance.
This race is a fundraiser for The Friends of Cheyenne Mountain State Park (A 501 (c) 3 charitable nonprofit).
The Cheyenne Mountain Run 25K is a qualifying race for the 2026 Pikes Peak Ascent (PPA).
Packet Pickup
- Early packet pickup: Friday, August 14th, noon - 2:30 PM at the Visitor's Center in Cheyenne Mountain State Park.
- Race morning pickup: starting at 5:30 AM.
Registration Limit
The 25K course has a limit of 400 registrations. There is no limit on the 5K or 10K courses.
Referral Rewards Program
Refer friends and receive cash back. Offer expires August 14, 2026.
Race Timing
Race Timing is provided by the Pikes Peak Road Runners. The race is chipped timed with timing at the start and finish, and one on-course split time on the 25K course.
SWAG for 2026
All finishers will receive medals. Tech Shirts for all.
Parking/Directions
Parking for runners will start at 5:30 AM. Carpooling is encouraged due to limited parking.
Rules
Assigned race bibs are not transferable but registration transfer is allowed. No strollers, bikes, roller blades, skateboards, etc. No animals are permitted on the course. Poles and walking sticks not allowed. All trash must be disposed of at water stations/start-finish line. Open ear devices will be allowed in one ear.
