Surrey Hills Half Marathon
This is a guided trail half marathon around the Surrey Hills that starts and finishes in Guildford, meeting at St Martha's Hill. The route covers approximately 13 miles and includes sections of the North Downs Way. The course typically visits St Martha's Church and passes through the village of Shere, with viewpoints at Newlands Corner and Hackhurst Downs. Specific route details change from date to date while retaining key highlights.
The event is run as a guided group rather than a race. Participants should be comfortable maintaining an average trail pace of around 10 minutes per mile (6:15 min/km) for extended periods; the group will sometimes hike steeper climbs, regroup regularly, and adopt a more social pace at times. A full kit list is provided to participants. On the evening run there are Silva torches available to trial.
Practical details provided by the organiser include a car park on site and a train station a short run or taxi ride away. The listed cost is £29 per person. The organiser offers multiple dates, including weekend options and a midsummer evening run. An alcohol free beer may be available at the finish, subject to availability. Visit the organisation's website for the most recent information.
