Summer Shores 5K/8K : event description
Summer Shores offers in-person and virtual events beginning and ending at Hutches on the Beach near Barrangas in Hamilton, Ontario. The available distances are:
- 1 km (in-person) supports Community Living Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln
- 5 km (in-person or virtual)
- 8 km (in-person or virtual)
The in-person routes use the Hamilton waterfront trail and run along Lake Ontario. Race kits and bibs can be picked up before race day at a local Running Room store or on race day at the event site. Strollers are permitted; runners using a stroller are asked to start at the back of the corral. Dogs are not permitted.
Virtual entries include shipping options for kit items and a process for submitting results using an app or the event results page; virtual finishers receive a certificate. Fundraising is part of the event: proceeds from the 1 km go to Community Living Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln, additional donations can be made during registration and eligible donations receive tax receipts. The race also collects nonperishable food items to support Hamilton Food Share. Discounts are offered for youths (16 and under) and seniors (65 and over).
