Steinhuder Meer Triathlon
The Steinhuder Meer Triathlon will take place in Wunstorf on Saturday 25 July 2026 to Sunday 26 July 2026.
As part of the multisport event "Die Finals," national champions will be determined in 25 sports in Hannover and the surrounding region. The triathlon offers amateur athletes the unique opportunity to compete on the same courses and at the same venues as the top athletes, becoming part of this major multisport event.
Participants in the Sprint Triathlon Steinhuder Meer can choose between an individual race (750 m swimming, 18 km cycling, 5 km running) or a sprint relay, where each team member completes one of the three disciplines. Ambitious starters can also compete for national titles on Sunday at the DTU German Championships Sprint Distance for age groups. A valid start pass from the German Triathlon Union (DTU) and German citizenship are required.
The swimming leg takes place in the Steinhuder Meer, followed by a varied cycling course along the shore of the Steinhuder Meer – towards the Hagenburg Canal and through the nature reserve back towards Altenhagen. The course then continues into and through Wunstorf and Steinhude, leading back to the "Strandterrassen." The running course winds through the town center of Steinhude and then along the promenade, offering a vibrant highlight for both participants and spectators.
The amateur races are scheduled for both days, preceding the elite competitions. Starts are planned in waves between 7:00 AM and 7:45 AM.
