Mission:
The mission of the Sound the Alarm 5K Run/Walk is to provide awareness and financial support to the men and women of the first responder community. This year’s race will help raise funds to support the families of Firefighters, Police Officers, and Emergency Medical Staff providers who are killed in the line of duty. The Independence Professional Firefighters Union Local 3945, in partnership with Hickory Grove Baptist Church, is teaming up with Supporting Heroes, a Louisville, KY-based organization that provides immediate financial support to the families of fallen first responders. Supporting Heroes offers a $5,000 ‘emergency funds’ check and ongoing financial support. They also maintain a Memorial Team and hold events to support families.
All participants will start at 8:30 AM. Faster runners should start towards the front, and walkers should line up in the back. Virtual Race participants will receive their shirt/medal by mail following the live race day. A digital race bib will be available for download and printing.
All participants have 90 minutes to complete the course. After that time frame, everyone will be asked to move to the sidewalk to finish the race. Swag bags are included with race registration.
