Sommernachtstraum-Nachtlauf
Welcome to the 3rd Sommernachtstraum-Nachtlauf, the night run in the Swabian Forest!
Race Details:
- What: Approximately 86 km night trail run with about +/- 2600 meters of elevation gain. A short night, a long run - a special experience :-)
- When: Expected June 19-20, 2026, starting around 9:00 PM. Finish time: Whenever everyone is done :-)
- Where: Start and finish at Strandcafe Mainhardt am Mineralfreibad.
- Why: A challenging approximately 50-mile trail run with many unexplored trails - a unique experience. Enjoy the amenities of the outdoor pool and the Strandcafe's cuisine before and after the start.
- Who: For experienced trail runners with strong orientation, self-responsibility, and problem-solving skills. Navigation via GPS track is mandatory as the course is not marked.
About the Race
- Character: Night run with a demanding course. A private running event. Registration with proof of suitability (relevant DUV entries) is required (exceptions can be discussed individually). Runners are responsible for themselves on longer sections (running backpack). Officially unaided, but aid stations will be available.
- Date: Expected June 19-20, 2026

- Distance / Elevation: approx. 86 km / approx. +/- 2600 Hm
- Participant limit: max. 25
- Entry fee: 0 €, voluntary donation to cover costs is welcome
- Timing: DUV statistics. Timing at start and finish. GPS track may be required for verification.
- Accommodation: Plenty available in and around Mainhardt, e.g., Schwäbischer Wald Tourismus.
- Parking: Ample parking available at and in the immediate vicinity of the outdoor pool.
Equipment Recommendations:
- GPS-enabled running watch for navigation and recording the GPS track. Possibly a power bank for recharging. The route is NOT signposted!
- Trail running shoes + knee-high running socks + gaiters in bad weather
- Trekking poles (the route is partly steep/technical/slippery)
- Weather-appropriate clothing (check the weather forecast)
- Running backpack with at least 1.5 L water, separate drinking bottle(s)
- Ample food supply
- Mobile phone (fully charged, of course) – Caution: Some sections have no network coverage!
- Headlamp, fully charged, spare battery
- Cash / ID / health insurance card
- Minimal first-aid kit (whistle, elastic bandage, tape + possibly small scissors, emergency blanket)
Course Highlights:
High trail proportion, partly steep/technical, often remote. Current information will be provided at the pre-start briefing. Highlights include: Finsterroter See, Rottaltrail, Kuhnbachtrail, Seewiesentrail, Bodenbachschlucht, Dentelbachtrail, Tiefe Klinge (Spiegelberg), Silberstollenweg, Hüttlenwaldschlucht, Juxkopf, Geisterklinge, Katzenschwanztrail, Wolfsklingentrail, Hohe Straße-Trail, Oberer Hörschbachwasserfall, Felsenmeer (Murrhardt), Riesbergturm, Franzenklinge, Villa Franck, Trauzenbachtal, Limesturm bei Grab, Olgaschlucht.
