Race for Life Southampton
Race for Life Southampton takes place on The Common in Southampton. The event offers three distances and is organised by Cancer Research UK. It is chip timed and open to participants aged 16 and over. The event has a minimum fundraising target of £50.
The course starts on tarmac and finishes on grass. It follows tree lined paths around The Common, continues along Cemetery Road and returns to The Common to finish. The 10k is a double lap of the 5k. Over the 10k distance the total ascent is 55 m with a gradual incline around 2 km and 6 km. The grass edge around the main event site can be uneven in places.
Facilities available at the event include refreshments, toilets, allowance for dogs, suitability for pushchairs and wheelchair access with assistance. Not available are bag drop, showers and on site parking. There are no electric vehicle charging points or bike racks. There is no parking at The Common for general attendees; blue badge parking is managed on site and volunteers have specific parking arrangements. Southampton Central and St Denys train stations are within walking distance of the venue.
Participants receive a fundraising pack, a customisable back sign, training guidance and a Race for Life medal on completion. A QR code on site provides British Sign Language stage content and sunflower wristbands are available at the enquiries marquee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
