Race for Life Pretty Muddy Glasgow
The event is a Pretty Muddy 5k obstacle course around Strathclyde Loch at Strathclyde Country Park, Motherwell. The course is described as a flat route that starts by the Watersports Centre, heads to the north end of the loch, returns down the eastern shore and finishes by the Sandy Beach car park. The start line is located on the grass area next to the Clyde Car Park within the park; the finish is across the loch next to the Beach Car Park.
The course includes mud obstacles where participants climb, crawl and slide. Obstacles are marshalled and participants may skip an obstacle if required. Wave starts are staggered every 15 minutes for safety. Participants must be 13 years of age or older; there are separate Pretty Muddy Kids events for children aged 12 and under. The event is organised by Cancer Research UK. A minimum fundraising target of £50.00 applies.
Facilities noted as available include refreshments and toilets. Parking is available but car parking at the venue is described as extremely limited and delays are possible. Bag drop and showers are not available. The event is not suitable for wheelchair users, though the adjacent path around the loch is wheelchair and pushchair friendly and blue badge parking is available close to the start line.
Participants receive event information and a fundraising pack, a customisable back sign, training materials, community support and a Race for Life medal on completion.
