Mid Wales 200
The Mid Wales 200 is a circular, self-supported trail event taking place 17th to 22nd June 2026 with start and finish in Machynlleth. The route covers approximately 200 miles with a total elevation gain of about 31,000 ft and is described as entirely hilly. Runners have 120 hours to complete the course.
The route follows sections of Glyndwr's Way and Offa's Dyke, traversing rolling hills, woodlands, and valleys. Checkpoints are placed at roughly 25 mile intervals. The event provides 8 aid stations, including 3 full-fare sleep stations, a medical team, live runner tracking, and optional crew support; uncrewed participation is permitted. Runners must pass the 100 mile mark within 55 hours.
A personalised drop bag system transports one drop bag to every checkpoint. Drop bag limits are 45 cm x 75.5 cm x 45 cm (132 litres). Plastic boxes or suitcases are not allowed and only one drop bag per runner is permitted.
Included for entrants are a race T-shirt and a map print, and finishers receive a Mid Wales 200 belt buckle and a finisher medal. Entry cost is £499 for the early rate, payable in instalments or upfront, increasing to £549 from 1 November 2025. Machynlleth is served by train and has local accommodation; international travel suggestions include flights to London, Bristol, Birmingham, or Manchester. Cut-offs
This is a non-stop race with a strict 120-hour completion time. There will be 3 optional sleep stations. Runners must reach the 100-mile marker before 55 hours.
Checkpoints
Checkpoints will be approximately every 25 miles. Runners can have their own crew, or run un-crewed. Checkpoints will provide food, drinks, medical attention, and morale support. Dietary requirements can be accommodated.
Drop Bags
Drop bags are important and will be available at each checkpoint. Drop bag dimensions: 45 cm x 75.5 cm x 45 cm (132 litres). Plastic boxes or suitcases are not allowed. Each runner is entitled to one drop bag.
