Letchworth 5K - Letchworth Garden City
Letchworth 5K takes place on 20 September 2026 in Letchworth Garden City town centre. The event includes a 5 km race, a 1 mile race and a Fun Run. All races start and finish in Leys Square and the public roads on the course are closed for the event.
Race numbers and timing chips are issued from Cultivo Lounge on Leys Avenue. A baggage handling facility is provided at the start and finish area; items are stored at the owner’s risk. There are no formal changing facilities on site. Public toilets are available in the town centre and local cafes will be open.
The organisers encourage low-impact practices: cups are compostable or reusable, paper and cardboard are recycled, race numbers are reused and medals are sourced sustainably. Pre- and post-race refreshments are available at the start and finish location.
Safety information: first aid trained marshals will be present. Participants are asked not to wear headphones so they can hear marshal instructions. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult. The course surface is tarmac or solid blocks and is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs; road running shoes are recommended. Dogs may take part but must start at the back and be kept on a short lead.
Prizes include medals for all finishers and awards by overall and age categories; results are published in real time. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Green Stuff
We are doing our best to make this race as least impactive on the environment as possible.
- All the cups used are either compostable or reusable.
- All paper and cardboard will be recycled.
- The race numbers will be reused.
- The medals are from a sustainable source.
Please do your bit by taking all your litter home, bring your own water bottle and don’t drop litter (particularly energy gel wrappers) on the course.

You can pick up your race number including the chip at Cultivo Lounge, Leys Avenue, Letchworth SG6 3EW:
- Saturday 19th September - 11am - 1pm
- Sunday 20th September - 7.30am - 10.15am
Parking
Please walk or cycle to the race if you can. There are loads of secure cycle racks in the town.
Car parking is available free of charge at the following locations:
- Arena Parade.
- The Wynd
- Rowland Way
- Rowland Way multi-storey.
Changing and Baggage
Unfortunately, there are no changing facilities for runners prior to the race start.
We are trying to limit the amount of baggage at the start. Please leave all your valuables and spare clothes in your car or at home if you can.
There will be a baggage handling facility at the race start /finish venue for the storage of participant’s baggage. Runners are reminded that any kit left during the race is at the owner’s risk.
Toilets
There are plenty of public toilets in Letchworth town centre. The local coffee shops are also open and will allow the use of their toilets.
Medical
Please be sure that you are fit enough to take part. It would be unwise to start knowing that you may well be unwell or injured on route.
If you have any allergies or medical conditions, please write them in waterproof ink on the back of your race number.
There are first aid trained marshals at this event.
Refreshments
We will be providing both pre- and post-race refreshments at the start / finish point in Leys Square. There are also loads of fantastic coffee shops and restaurants in Letchworth Garden City town.
