Gladstone 9 Fell Race
The Gladstone 9 is a fell race of about 14.5 km / 9 mi with approximately 855 m of climb. The venue is The Gladstone on Ysgubor Wen Road in Dwygyfylchi near Penmaenmawr (LL34 6PS). A field limit of 100 is indicated for day entries.
The route runs over upland moorland and open fell, reaching heights up to around 2,000 ft (600 m). Terrain includes largely rough tracks and sections of challenging but runnable off‑track ground. Exposure and hazards are occasional and moderate in places. The course is partially marked and requires competent navigation; local knowledge is beneficial. Mountain skills and self-reliance are expected. Some escape routes exist but retiring or injured runners may face difficulty in parts. A cut off time will be applied at CP2; exact details will be announced nearer the event.
Minimum age for entry is over 18. Consideration may be given to experienced 16 and 17 year olds through the online entry process. Entry fees published are £9 with a reduced rate for WFRA members and £11 on the day if the limit of 100 has not been reached. Entries include soup or a roll at the venue and electronic timing.
Travel notes advise using active travel where possible. Penmaenmawr train station is about a 10 minute walk from the venue. Car sharing and responsible parking away from Ysgubor Wen Road are recommended; an alternative village car park is about a 15 minute walk away.
