Fort Garry Rotary Half Marathon and 5K Fun Run

The Fort Garry Rotary event in Winnipeg includes a certified half marathon and a 5 km fun run, with proceeds supporting local recovery and youth services. The distances offered are:

Half marathon
5K Fun Run

The half marathon is a certified out‑and‑back course marked with mile markers and kilometer markers at 5, 10 and 15 km. The route starts and finishes at St. Vital Park, follows the Red River and passes along D'Arcy Drive, Thatcher Drive, University Crescent, Sifton Road and Kilkenny Drive before reaching the Perimeter Highway and the turnaround on Cloutier Drive. Race marshals and volunteers in yellow T-shirts are positioned along the course. The 5K Fun Run is two laps around St. Vital Park Perimeter Road, open to all ages and suitable for families and groups. Water stations are placed approximately every 2 to 3 kilometres on the half marathon. A bag drop is available near the start line. All half marathon finishers receive a medal; 5K medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers. The event supports the Bruce and Anne Oake Memorial Foundation and the Knowles Centre. RACE INFORMATION

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2026

HALF MARATHON

This certified race course and is an out and back route marked with mile markers throughout and kilometer markers at 5, 10 and 15 KM. The race begins at St. Vital Park (near the Duck Pond) at 8am. From the Duck Pond, runners continue on Parameter Road to the park’s exit gate and turn south on River Road toward Bishop Grandin. Before reaching the street, runners turn right and follow the bike path along the Red River on the south side of Bishop Grandin. Runners then make the loop to follow the path over the bridge to the west side of the Red River and onto Darcy Drive. Runners continue to Thatcher Drive leading to University Crescent. Runners turn left on University Crescent and left again onto Sifton Road. Runners will follow Sifton to Saunders and then to Freedman, and turn left on Kings Drive. Runners then turn right onto Kilkenny Drive and continue to the Perimeter Highway. At this point, runners cross the bike path going west along Cloutier Drive to the turnaround point, make a slight left from the bike path to the left lane of Cloutier Drive and retrace the course back to the park. Racecourse marshals and volunteers (in yellow T-shirts) will be available all along the course for guidance.

5K FUN RUN

The Fun Run will start shortly after the Half Marathon and is a 2 Lap (5 Km) course around St. Vital Park (Perimeter Road). The Fun Run is open to all ages and we encourage families, friends, or groups to participate and join the fun!
