Dovedale Dash 2026
The Dovedale Dash is an iconic cross country race of 4 3/4 mile, run by 1200 to 1400 people of all abilities. The venue is the picturesque area around the village of Thorpe near Ashbourne and beautiful Dovedale in the South of the Derbyshire Peak District. The course is mainly along fields, paths and open ground in the valleys of the river Dove and Manifold. One of the excitements is the crossing of the river Dove at the well known Stepping Stones.
The first race was held in 1953 and this year we are organising the 66th edition of this famous race.
The start of the race is from Thorpe pastures in the small village of Thorpe. The start is at 11 am. Parking is free and on Thorpe pastures.
Some years we have had to cancel the race as our car park was too wet, so check the website or social media before setting off. It can be busy on the day, so come early. Registration opens from 9 am.
Childrens Mini Dash
The Mini Dash is a childrens race of 1 1/4 miles around the foot of Thorpe Cloud. The race is for U12's (11 and under on the day of the race). There is an U12s (11 and under) and U9s (8 and under) category.
The start of the race is at the far end of Thorpe Pastures, through the gate at the bottom of Thorpe Cloud. After the start the race goes clockwise round Thorpe Cloud, down to the River Dove, alongside the River Dove to the stepping stones (no over them and not through the river). Then the difficult part, uphill through Lin Dale to finish under loud applause and cheering from all the runners and spectators through the main finish. You can accompany your child as parents or guardians if you would like.
