THE COURSE
Please note: Some of the route is located on private land and therefore not accessible prior to race day.
The route begins with a lap of the perimeter of the school fields before heading out onto Stoneypark Lane. It continues on paths, through gates, and along fields before rejoining the school entrance area. The route then follows paths past Lower Parks Farm, through Great Parks Farm, and over a bridge across the Tarka Line into adjacent fields. Marshals will direct participants before rejoining public footpaths. The course turns right, then right again, leading through fields along the River Yeo to the hamlet of Salmonhutch. From Salmonhutch, a left turn leads along the road to Uton Barton, followed by a right turn at the junction. Participants continue along a country road for about 1.7 km, crossing Folly Bridge before turning right back into public footpaths through fields for 0.8 km. This section passes Denbury and Beare Mill Farms, joins a farm lane, and then reaches a road. A right turn is followed by a left turn back onto a public footpath to tackle Breakheart Hill. The path ascends the hill, runs along the top of four fields, and leads back to Stoneypark Lane. A right turn here, passing the top of steps, leads through a gate into the school field for the finish line.
Support: Marshals are provided by Crediton Running Network and Ernest Jackson. Water stations are located at 5 km and the finish. This is a cup-less event, so participants must bring their own bottle or cup. Trail shoes are recommended due to potentially muddy and slippery terrain. Headphones are not permitted during the race.
Prizes: Awarded to the first three male and female finishers, and in age categories V40, V50, V60, and V70+. All participants receive a race medal and a goody bag. Spot prizes are drawn using BIB numbers, and there is a best-fancy-dress trophy.
