The Brecon Carreg Porthcawl 10K is a road running event held in the seaside town of Porthcawl on 05 July 2026. The course uses fully closed roads and showcases coastal landmarks and town sights, including Rest Bay, Trecco Bay, Coney Bay, the town centre, the Grand Pavilion and Porthcawl Lighthouse. The start and finish are on the Promenade outside the historic Pavilion and the route offers views across Newton Bay, Trecco Bay and Sandy Bay.
Event provisions include a mailed race pack sent within a week of the event, a finishers medal, a technical race t-shirt, on-course water provision, pacers in every start wave, Event Village facilities and live tracking via the Run 4 Wales app. The day also features a programme of family activities and junior events such as a Fun Run, a Toddler Dash and a Future Challengers race that take place after the main race.
Entry provisions note that wheelchairs may enter both the 10K and the Fun Run, while buggies are permitted only in the Fun Run. The event partners include a title sponsor and a lead charity, and the race forms part of the Run 4 Wales 10K Series.
The Course
The Brecon Carreg Porthcawl 10K takes place on fully closed-roads and has been devised by Race Director and double Olympic marathon runner Steve Brace, who has intimate knowledge of the local area. The race starts and finishes with a festival atmosphere outside the historic Porthcawl Pavilion on the Promenade and will showcase the very best of the seaside town. Runners will be treated to panoramic views across Newton Bay, Trecco Bay and Sandy Bay as they race through Trecco Bay Holiday Park before setting off on the second-half of their 10K journey. Live music gives the mass race a much needed boost through the heart of the town’s shopping district on John Street. As they conclude their 10K journey, runners will be treated to views of Rest Bay before the famous Porthcawl Lighthouse comes into view to signal a sprint finish along the Promenade.
