BC Backyard Ultra
BC Backyard Ultra is hosted at the Sicamous Public Beach Park in Sicamous, British Columbia and supports the Canadian Championship Series & Big Dog's Backyard Ultra World Championship.
The trails that make up the BC Backyard Ultra route are within the Traditional Territory of the Southern Secwepemc First Nation. It is a privilege to experience the preservation & beauty of these lands.
The Backyard format is inclusive and gives opportunity to run with community, set a personal record, challenge/lean on each other & experience an event that brings racers back to home base over and over again...until you meet your own finish line.
Event Details:
- Format: Backyard Ultra
- Loop Distance: 6706 meters (4.167 miles / 6.7056 kms)
- Elevation Gain/Loss: Less than 20 m
- Course Mix: Non-technical trail and pavement
- Awards: Cash prizes and World Championship opportunities (details vary by year)
- Cancellation Policy: No refunds, no waitlist. Transfers possible until April 9, 2027.
- Age Requirement: 19 years or older on race day.
Race Schedule:
Every hour on the hour, runners must complete the 6706-meter loop. Whistles will blow at 3, 2, and 1 minute before the top of the hour. The bell signals the start of the hour; participants must be in the starting chute. The last remaining runner completes a final victory loop.
Important Notes:
- There is only one winner; all other participants are recorded as DNF (Did Not Finish).
- BC Backyard Ultra gives back to community/volunteer organizations.
- BC Backyard Ultra and Lewiston Ultra Events will host the Canadian Nationals in October 2026.
