Alderman's Ascent - Celebrating 10 Years
Alderman’s Ascent celebrates its 10th year in 2026 and will be a counter race for the English Fell Running Championship 2026, attracting runners from across the country.
For 2026, the event base moves from the Rugby Club to the Satellite Centre on Wellington Road, Greenfield, directly opposite the start line.
The Course
This classic fell race covers approximately 8.5 km with over 400 m of climbing. The route visits the iconic ‘Pots and Pans’ monument before heading out to Shaw Rocks (highest point) and then turning back towards Alderman’s Hill. The course features a long, technical downhill section followed by a prolonged uphill to the shoulder of Alderman’s Hill, and then a run back to the finish.
The race is classified as an ‘AS’ race according to FRA rules. FRA mandatory kit requirements will be confirmed on the day; competitors are advised to bring full kit that meets FRA guidance.
