Event Overview
Sponsored by ACE Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine Institute, this event features a Boston Marathon-qualifying course (DC21001RT). It is part of the Safety And Health Foundation's 2022 Grand Prix, with a $100 cash award for those who finish all three of SHF's full or half marathons in 2024.
Course Details
The course is flat, scenic, tree-lined, shaded, and an out'n'back route with beautiful views of the Potomac River. It is almost totally flat, with the highest point at 44m and the lowest at 12m above sea level. Enjoy a lovely day on the C&O Canal Towpath, with displays about its history before and after the race.
Packet Pickup
- Pre-race packet pickup: Friday, October 16, 12:00 noon to 5:45 PM at Pacers Running Store, 3100 Clarendon Boulevard, Arlington VA.
- Race-day packet pickup: Saturday, October 17, 6:45 AM to 8:45 AM, onsite at picnic tables at Fletcher's Cove, 4940 Canal Road NW, Washington DC.
- You may pick up someone else's bib number and packet with a signed note or printed email message.
Pre-Race Dinner
A pasta dinner will be held on Friday, October 16, at 6:15 PM at Big Tony's Pizzeria, 3100 Clarendon Boulevard, Arlington VA, featuring a guest speaker.
Awards
- $250 to 1st, $150 to 2nd, $100 to 3rd overall Male/Female in the 8 AM Full Marathon.
- SHF awards to 1st, 2nd, 3rd by 10-year age-group Male/Female in the full and half marathons.
Directions & Parking
Fletcher's Cove is two miles west of Georgetown at 4940 Canal Road NW. Detailed driving directions are provided from Georgetown. Approximately 285 free parking spaces are available. Please carpool or use the Facebook page to share a ride. If Fletcher's Cove parking is full, additional free on-street parking is available on Reservoir Road and at The River School.
Drop-off Instructions
The best place for drop-off is at the top of the ramp leading down to Fletcher's Cove. Do not drive down the ramp to drop off passengers to avoid traffic jams.
