Winter X - Meon Valley, Hampshire
The Winter X is a classic mid-winter trail challenge inspired by the legendary Winter Cross. This trail-running adventure is set in the scenic Meon Valley and follows well-trodden public trails, including sections of the South Downs Way, with some short road links.
General Info
Entries are now closed for Winter X 2025. The provisional date for Winter X 2026 is December 28th, 2026. Entries are made via SiEntries and the event is capped at 300 participants across all routes. The run will be held under UKA rules, and dogs are not permitted. Age restrictions apply to different distances.

Run HQ
Run HQ is at Meonstoke Village Hall, Pound Ln, Southampton SO32 3NP.
On The Day
Parking is available South of Meon Hall on Fry's Lane / Chapel Road. Registration and race number collection will be at event HQ. No entries on the day. Bags can be left in the hall (no valuables). Toilets and showers are available at Meonstoke Village Hall.
Start
All distances start and finish at the Meon Hall. Start-times will be staggered between 08:00 and 10:00, with the 70km event starting from 8am. Participants should wait for a marshal to be set off.
During The Event
Participants must visit every checkpoint, keep their race number visible, and follow marshal instructions. Litter must be disposed of in bins at checkpoints. In case of a medical emergency, contact emergency services first, then event admins. Retirements must be reported to a marshal.
Finish
Congratulations on finishing! Upon completion, collect your memento and enjoy post-event food, hot drinks, and homemade cake at Meonstoke Hall. Hot showers are also available.
