Winter 50 Miler: Lincolnshire Wolds
The Winter 50 Miler is a 50 miles ultramarathon held on 20 February 2027, starting and finishing at Swallow Village Hall, Lincolnshire LN7 6DL. The circular route runs through the Lincolnshire Wolds and follows sections of the historic Viking Way.
The course includes 1,370 m of total ascent and is scheduled with a cut-off time of 18 hours. February conditions mean limited daylight, low temperatures, strong winds and variable underfoot conditions where mud may be frozen or deep; many participants will begin or finish portions of the route in darkness.
Event support includes four fully stocked aid stations offering food and hydration, medical support on standby, and live GPS tracking for safety and spectator follow along. Organizers provide GPX files for Ordnance Survey maps and for Garmin devices. A mandatory kit list is specified for participants.
Finishers receive a bespoke finisher's medal. Additional prizes are awarded to the first three male and first three female finishers.

The Challenge: Don't let the "flat" reputation of Lincolnshire fool you. This course packs a punch with 1,370m (4,500ft) of ascent, rolling through the heart of the Wolds and along the historic Viking Way. You will start in the dark and, for many, you will finish in the dark. The mud will be frozen (or deep), the hills will feel steeper, and the warmth of the finish line will never feel so earned.
