Calling all runners and science enthusiasts! This flat and fast course will have you racing through time while supporting critical cultural and scientific programs at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science.

- 5K Run/Walk: 9:00 a.m.

- FAMILY 1-Mile Walk: 10:00 a.m.
NOTE: WE WILL START ON TIME. YOU MUST BE AT THE START OF YOUR EVENT 10-15 MINUTES BEFORE THE ABOVE START TIMES.
ALL REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE A T-SHIRT, PARTICIPANT MEDAL, AND ENTRY INTO THE NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM.

Late registrations for all events are available on race day and at Packet Pickup. PLEASE NOTE: RACE-DAY REGISTRATION IS AVAILABLE; HOWEVER, ALL PRE-REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO PICK UP THEIR EVENT PACKETS AT “PACKET PICKUP.”
Note: If you are not able to pick up your packets in person at Packet Pickup, you must plan for a representative to do so. Any out-of-town participants may pick up their packets on race morning at the registration area (NM Museum of Natural History and Science).
Course Information:
The starting location for the 5K Run, 5K Walk, Kids 1 Mile, Family 1 Mile, and Kids K is located at Tiguex Park across the street from the NM Natural History Museum. Participants must be at the start 15 minutes before the event starts. All participants will finish at Tiguex Park across from the NM Museum of Natural History.
Awards:
The overall and division award winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on race day – immediately following the Kids K.
What is NOT allowed on the course?
For everyone’s safety, baby carriers, baby backpacks, inline skates, motorized scooters, bicycles, skateboards, and animals of any kind are prohibited from the course. Strollers and baby joggers are permitted on the course. Strollers and baby joggers must start at the back of the pack, and your child must always be secured in the stroller.
Inclement Weather Policy:
Weather forecasts will be monitored before the event, paying particular attention to the possibility of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, high winds, and extreme temperatures. If necessary, athletes will be made aware of these predictions on the RunFit website: www.irunfit.org so that participants can properly prepare for severe weather during the race and possible course alterations. Severe weather updates will also be sent to participants via email. The Race Director will monitor the weather and decide if any action will be taken to modify the race. Possible changes include altering the start time for the race or, in extreme situations, cancellation of the event. Please listen closely to all public address announcements at the race's starting line. Visible lightning will cause the race to be postponed for a minimum of 15 minutes. Additional sightings will continue to delay the race in 15-minute increments. If extreme heat is predicted, the athletes will be provided with extra water before, during, and after the event. The medical team will be alerted that athletes may require additional medical attention during and after the event due to the high temperatures.
Medical Support:
Medical staff members will be ready to assist you at any time. Radio communications personnel will be positioned along the course at every aid/water station. The event officials have the right to withdraw any runner from the race who appears distressed or at risk. You will be directed to the Medical Area near the finish if you have a health or medical problem at the Finish Line. Please cooperate if you are asked to go for a checkup. If you need help at any point, please ask for it! If you cannot finish the race, please notify a race official of your bib number so that the medical personnel know.
INFLATABLE COSTUME DASH:
Step into your favorite inflatable costume and wobble—we mean to make a mad dash to the finish line. The inflatable Costume Dash will start and finish at Tiguex Park directly south of the Natural History Museum. Note: Participants who have registered for the 5K, Kids K and 1-Mile Family Walk may participate with no additional charge.
5K:
Overall prizes will be awarded to the top three men and women determined by gun time. Age group prizes will be given to the top three finishers in the following categories for men and women: 5 and under, 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+. Award times will be determined by gun time.
Kids K:
All registered participants (11 and under) can participate in the RunFit Kids K. The race will start at 9:45 a.m. The Start and Finish are in front of the NM Museum of Natural History and Science. All participants will receive a special recognition award at the finish.
Kids 1-Mile and Family 1-Mile:
All registered participants (11 and under) are eligible to participate in the RunFit Kids 1-Mile Run/Walk. The RunFit Kids 1-Mile will begin at 10:00 a.m. The Start and Finish will be located at Tiguex Park across from the NM Museum of Natural History. All participants will receive a special recognition award at the finish. Note: The Family 1-Mile will also begin at 10:00 a.m. Same Start and Finish as Kids 1-Mile. All participants must register. If you registered for the 5K or Kids K, you are also welcome to participate in the Family 1-Mile event. However, if you are not, you (each member) must register for the Family 1-Mile.
Post-Race:
Post-race refreshments will be held near the finish.
Results:
Results will be posted immediately after the event near the finish as well as online at www.irunfit.org.
