Tri the Parks - Richard B Russell Intermediate
Event Type: Triathlon, Duathlon, Aquabike
Distance: Intermediate courses available for Triathlon (29 Miles), Duathlon (31 Miles), and Aquabike (23 Miles).
Registration: Cutoff is 5:30 AM on race day or when the field limit of 350 is reached. T-shirts are not guaranteed for sign-ups after June 27.
Transition Area: Bike racks are assigned by race number. Body marking will correspond with your race number.
Swim Caps: Provided and must be worn. Cap color indicates swim start position.
EVENT TIMELINE
- 5:30 a.m.: Park opens
- 5:30 a.m. - 7:00 a.m.: Check-in
- 7:00 a.m.: Report to the beach for swim seed positioning and duathlon course start
- 7:15 a.m.: Start sequence information and last minute course updates
- 7:30 a.m.: Race starts
- 11:00 a.m.: Awards ceremony begins
TRIATHLON COURSE DETAILS
Swim Course: 1,500 meters (two 750 meter laps) triangle course. Time trial start with athletes starting every 5 seconds. Wetsuits legal if water temp is below 78 degrees.
Bike Course: 29 miles, out and back loop on paved county roads and park roads. Course is marked with directional signs and mile markers. Turns will be staffed. Open to traffic; follow signage and personnel.
Run Course: 6.2 miles (two 3.1 mile laps). First half mile of each lap is trail, remaining course is paved park roads. Water stations at each mile.
INTERMEDIATE DUATHLON COURSE
Start: 7:30 a.m.
Run 1: 3.1 miles (same course as triathlon run in reverse direction).
Bike: Same as triathlon bike course.
Run 2: 6.2 miles (two 3.1 mile laps).
INTERMEDIATE AQUABIKE COURSE
Consists of the same swim and bike legs as the triathlon. Aquabikers will wear a green wristband.
PARKING
Opens at 5:30 AM. First-come, first-serve basis near transition. Overflow parking at the pavilion approx. ¼ mile away. Bring photo ID.
