Tommy Runs 2026 – Sunday 1st November 2026
Our popular Tommy Runs return in 2026 on the Sunday before Remembrance Sunday. Set along the beautiful Seaham seafront, the routes include road, promenade, and coastal trails. The event starts at the iconic Tommy War Memorial Statue, created by artist Ray Lonsdale, and a 1-minute silence will be observed before each race.
The statue, officially titled 1101 (Eleven-O-One), depicts a reflective WWI soldier in the first minute of peace after the Armistice. More popularly known as Tommy, it honours the archetypal private soldier, Tommy Atkins.
