We want more women to take part in our ultras, more representation of minority groups, and to create an inclusive ultra community where you feel fully safe and supported.
Event Features:
- Generous cut-offs: We try to give you as much time as possible to complete the run.
- Period Products in EVERY loo: All our toilets are stocked with free period products.
- Breastfeeding/Chest Feeding Area: If you are breastfeeding or chestfeeding, get in touch with us and we will arrange a chair and a safe place for you to feed your baby (or pump) in comfort.
- Run solo or as a Team: Run solo or run in a team of up to 4 people.
- Deferrals for Pregnancy and Adoption: If you enter then become pregnant or get a date for your adoption completion then we allow you to defer more than once. This also applies if your partner is due on race day.
- Optional T-shirts in Women’s fit: We offer both Unisex and Women’s fit.
The River Tay Way Ultra is a women only ultramarathon that follows the River Tay Way in Perthshire. The route runs from Loch Tay toward Perth, with final locations noted as Scone Palace or Perth Fitness Studio pending confirmation. The distance is roughly 70 to 75 km and the surface mix is described as about 7 km on road, 15+ km on tarmac path and around 50 km on trail. The route is fully waymarked.
Entries can be individual or as a team of up to four people. The organiser allows multiple deferrals for pregnancy and for adoption timelines, and has indicated the event will be held on a bi-annual basis (2026, 2028 and so on).
Race services included with entry list online entry, live results, GPS tracking, chip timing by KitST, drop bags conveyed to checkpoints, a professional medic team, supportive marshals, water stations en route, free parking, participant insurance, and access to route recce meetings. There are generous cut-offs, a medal for every finisher, prizes for the top three and a time on feet award.
The event states an inclusion policy welcoming women, femme-presenting runners, trans men and non-binary runners. Additional provisions include period products in every toilet and a breastfeeding or chest feeding area arranged on request. The 2026 event is partnered with Trail Goddess and a prize draw offers a Trail Goddess kit worth around £130.
