THE RESTLESS Gravel XTRI - XTRI World Tour
THE RESTLESS is an XTRI World Tour gravel triathlon held in the Arrochar Alps, Scotland on August 22, 2026. The event offers gravel and MTB options and combines open water swimming, off-road cycling, and mountain running across upland terrain.
The course comprises three main race segments:
- 1.8 km swim in a deep loch from the shores of an ancient castle
- 50 km gravel ride through the Arrochar Alps, nearly 2000 m of ascent
- 25 km mountain run to Ben Donich, 1200 m of ascent
The route follows ancient drover's roads. Local stories and race material note legends of headless beasts and ghostly drovers along the way. The route includes a named section called "Glen Gruel", a roughly 5 km stretch identified in race material as notably difficult.
XTRI developed the gravel triathlon format and staged the first Gravel XTRI in the Arrochar Alps with this mix of loch swim, high ascent gravel riding, and technical mountain running. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

The Birth of XTRI Gravel
Gravel racing has exploded in recent years and we at XTRI are often asked if we will offer an xtreme gravel triathlon. The answer is Yes! Expect it to be different, harder, higher, more technical and most definitely Xtreme. Our first race was in the magnificent Arrochar Alps in Scotland where the swim took place in a Loch so deep it’s home to military submarines, a stunning gravel ride took athletes over the hills gaining nearly 2000m in 50km. Then we made them run to the top of Ben Donich, with incredible views on a tough and technical mountain trail. Join us again in August 2026.
