The Phantom Run
The Phantom Run is a November trail race held on North Shore trails in the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve near Lynn Canyon Park in North Vancouver. The event is a fundraising race and asks participants to bring non‑perishable food for donation to the North Vancouver Food Bank.
Distances offered:
- 12 km
- 19.5 km
- 25 km
Routes include technical and non‑technical trail sections with some steep climbs and descents. Recent heavy rain has produced muddy sections, large puddles and higher creek levels; some creek crossings on the longer route may require wading. The 2025 routes include a detour on the first 12 km loop due to construction on an aerial crossing.
There are three aid stations in total: three for the 25 km and 19.5 km and one for the 12 km. Aid stations provide water, electrolyte drink, gels, salty snacks, blocks or chews, cookies and other treats; first aid supplies are available at every aid station. The race series is cupless, so participants must bring their own fluid container.
Start and finish are at the Lynn Canyon Park parking lot on Lillooet Road across from the filtration plant. Parking is limited and carpooling is recommended; vehicles parked along Lillooet Road may be towed. An orientation run is scheduled in early November and all participants must check in before racing for safety reasons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
Course Information
The weather forecast for race day is cloudy with some showers. Regardless, we are anticipating a wet and dirty day of racing this year due to the heavy rains of the last few days. Our course marking teams were on course today (November 13th) and have reported lots of large puddles and mud on the trails. Waterproof shoes are not going to help you keep dry this year.
There have been heavy rains, and the larger Lynn Valley Creek is roaring. Fortunately, this is not a triathlon, so no swimming. 25K racers need to be aware that today (November 13th) some of the creeks crossing the trails to/from Third Debris Chute are full and may require some wading. The rain is slowing for the next few days, and we are hoping that water levels settle down.
Please see the current Racer Information for more race day details.
The finalized routes for The Phantom Run are below in PDF and GPX format. Due to construction on the Seymour River Aerial crossing Rehabilitation Project, we have made a detour in the first 12K loop for all distances for 2025.
Start/finish area confirmed. All race distances start and finish at the Lynn Canyon Park parking lot in Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve (LSCR), across from the filtration plant on Lillooet Road in North Vancouver. Drive about 3 km past Capilano University on Lillooet Road and park in an available parking lot on the right side (gravel) or at the Lynn Canyon Park sign lot. We recommend carpooling.

12K Race start time has moved up to 09:00 a.m. due to construction at Suspension Bridge. All other race starts remain the same.
