The Loch Lomond Beastie Triathlon Festival 2026
Organised by Lomond Swimming & Triathlon Club, the Loch Lomond Beastie Triathlon Festival returns to Balloch Castle Country Park on the banks of Loch Lomond on Saturday, July 25th, 2026. Set within the beautiful and historic park, these off-road triathlons are known for being challenging and exciting.
To reduce waste and keep entry fees consistent, medals are optional and available for an additional £5.
Event Options:
- The Beastie: Swim 750m, Cycle 17km off-road, Run 5km. A serious test for experienced triathletes.
- The Wee Beastie: Swim 400m, Cycle 9km off-road, Run 3km. A challenging introduction to the Beastie experience.
- Bikeless Beastie Aquathlon: Swim 750m, Run 5km. This event is the Scottish Aquathon Championship for 2026 and counts towards the Scottish Triathlon Series.

- 09:15 – Triathlons Transition Closes & Beastie Race Brief
- 09:30 – Beastie Race Start
- 10:00 – Wee Beastie Race Brief
- 10:15 – Wee Beastie Race Start
- 10:45 – Aquathlon Transition Closes & Race Brief
- 11:00 – Bikeless Beastie (Aquathon) Race Start
- 13:00 – Final Athlete Completed (All Races)
- 13:00 – Prize-giving Ceremony
Essential Rules & Advice:
Bike & Kit: Mountain bikes are compulsory; the course is not suitable for other bike types. Drop handlebars are not permitted. Grippy tyres are advised for muddy conditions.
Wetsuits: Compulsory if water temperature is below 14°C, not permitted above 22°C (24.6°C for athletes aged 60+).
Venue & Facilities: Parking is limited within the park; alternative parking is available at National Park HQ or Lomond Shores. On-site facilities include changing tents, a bag drop, toilets, and catering. No shower facilities are available.
General: Triathlon Scotland officials will be present. It is the participant's responsibility to be familiar with the rules.
