The Great Kinder Barrel Race
The Great Kinder Barrel Race takes place in Edale on Saturday 5th September 2026. Entries open 1st April 2026. The event base is Newfold Farm Campsite, located opposite the Nags Head Pub in the centre of Edale.
There are three events on the same day: a team barrel race called The Barrel, an individual fell race over the same course called The Pint, and a shorter children's race called The Half Pint. The Barrel is a traditional race for teams of eight. A new route introduced in 2023 starts and finishes in Edale while keeping elements of the original cross moor course.
The event is described as a family friendly day and welcomes spectators. On the field there will be a bouncy castle, a BBQ, a cake stall and a bar. Spectators may also watch teams on the route.
Parking is signed in the village and is a short walk from Newfold Farm. One parking space will be reserved for each Barrel Race team to help with equipment. Organisers encourage travel by train and offer free cake to entrants who can show train tickets. All profits from the event go to supporting Hope and Edale Primary Schools. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Spectators Welcome!
We'll have a bouncy castle, BBQ, cake stall and bar on the field, so lots of fun to be had whilst we wait for teams to come in. Or why not plan a walk to head out and watch teams come past?
