The Flying Scotsman
The Flying Scotsman is a two-day running event at Caldecotte, Milton Keynes, held on 12 and 13 September 2026. Each day features one marathon and one half marathon that follow a lakeside loop run clockwise around Caldecotte Lake.
Distances:
- Marathon: 7½ laps of Caldecotte Lake (clockwise)
- Half Marathon: 3½ laps of Caldecotte Lake (clockwise)
The event base is Premier Inn, Lakeside Grove, Bletcham Way, Caldecotte, Milton Keynes, MK7 8HP. Route descriptions are given out at the event location. Courses are organised around repeated laps of the lake and race support includes a starter, timekeeper, race referee, a large pub car park, and water and toilets on every lap of the course.
Time limits are enforced: marathon finishers must complete the course within 7:00 hours or will be recorded as DNF, and the half marathon has a 4:00 hour limit. All finishers receive a unique bespoke medal for each event. The event is held in accordance with 100 Marathon Club rules. Participants are expected to use suitable clothing and footwear.
Entry fees are listed as £39.99 for each marathon and £32.99 for each half marathon. The organiser does not offer refunds; entries may be deferred up to seven days before the event and must be used within 18 months. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Start Time:
All events - 08:30 - Mandatory race briefings ten minutes prior to race.
Limits:
- Marathon - There is a hard time limit of 7:00 hours for each marathon. Anyone finishing over 7:00 will be recorded as a DNF.
- Half Marathon - 4:00 hours
Awards:
Unique bespoke medal to all finishers of each event.

Cancellation Policy:
As with all event companies we are unable to make refunds under any circumstances. You can defer out of an event up to 7 days before the event date and transfer to another Engima event that isn't closed to entries. Just email us at - [email protected] - with the event you'd like to transfer to. Our current list of events can be found on our home page at www.enigmarunning.co.uk. Deferred entries must be used within 18 months of the original event date. (i.e. you can't keep deferring events forward indefinitely)
