The Cheyenne Mountain Run
The Cheyenne Mountain Run features three scenic trail races inside Cheyenne Mountain State Park:
- 25K Mountain Challenge – for advanced trail runners
- 10K Trail Race – for experienced runners
- 5K Run/Walk – a friendly, accessible option for all levels, including beginners
Each race uses color-coded bibs.
Start Details
Location: Limekiln Trailhead
Start Time: 7:00 AM (staggered start) - 25K first, 10K next, 5K last. Fastest runners will start first with their race distance and walkers last. All races are chip timed.
Poles: Not allowed.
25K Course Overview
- Start Elevation: 6,000 ft
- Max Elevation: ~9,450 ft
- Total Elevation Gain/Loss: ~3,450 ft
- Course: Talon → North Talon → Dixon Trail → Mountain Loop (clockwise) → return via Dixon → North Talon → Talon.
25K Cutoff Times
- Dixon Saddle (mile ~5.8): 8:45 AM cutoff (Runners arriving after 8:45 AM will be turned around)
- Top of Dixon Aid Station & Split Timing: closes at 10:00 AM
- Finish Line Timing: closes at 12:00 PM

- Lower Dixon Trail
- Top of Dixon Trail
All runners must carry their own hydration and be prepared for rapid weather changes.
10K Course Overview
- Out Talon Trail to the second South Talon junction.
- Counterclockwise loop on South Talon.
- Return via Talon → Sundance → finish.
Aid Stations (10K)
- Talon/Sundance and Talon/North Talon.
5K Course Overview
- Talon → Sundance (~1.4 miles) → Turkey Trot → Talon → finish.
Aid Station (5K)
- Talon/Sundance
This race is a fundraiser for The Friends of Cheyenne Mountain State Park (A 501 (c) 3 charitable nonprofit) and is made to celebrate and fundraise for the park we know and love. The safety of our participants and volunteers is our highest priority!
