The Cambus Quarter
The Cambus Quarter is a 6.5 miles / 10.5 km quarter marathon run on a flat, mixed-terrain course combining trail, tarmac and road surfaces. The route starts in Cambus village and opens with an anti-clockwise loop along the banks of the River Forth, following trail paths around farmland before returning on a tarmac path through the village.
A water station with cups is provided near the return to the start area. Runners continue on a clockwise loop that passes Cambus Pools Nature Reserve, goes through Blackgrange, passes Diageo and crosses a railway level crossing, before returning via the old A907 and the Cambus Cycle Path.
The course is not closed to traffic and remains open to the public. Marshals are positioned at major road crossings and the railway level crossing and runners must follow marshal instructions. The event is held under UK Athletics Rules and a scottishathletics licence. Strictly no dogs are allowed.
Entry closes on 13 August 2026. Entrants must be at least 16 years old on race day and the field is limited to 200 runners. Entrants must complete registration and collect race numbers by 9.45am on race day. On-the-day entries are traditionally accepted with set fees. Limited changing facilities and no showers are available. First aid and parking adjacent to Cambus Bowling Club are provided. Prizes are awarded to the first three male and female finishers and all runners receive a souvenir. Results are published after the event. Course Details
The race is run over a 6.5-mile/10.5km (= quarter marathon) flat, mixed-terrain course, combining trail, tarmac, and road sections. The route is generally fast underfoot, in most conditions road shoes should be acceptable, although trail shoes may be more suitable if the course is particularly wet.
The race begins in Cambus village and opens with an anti-clockwise loop along the banks of the River Forth, following scenic trail paths around the surrounding farmland before returning towards the start area on tarmac path, passing back through the village.
A water station with cups will be available at this point.
Runners will then continue onto a clockwise loop, passing Cambus Pools Nature Reserve, through Blackgrange, past Diageo, and over the railway level crossing, before heading back to the finish via the old A907 and Cambus Cycle Path.
Important Safety Information
Please note that the course is not closed to traffic and remains open to the public throughout the event. We therefore ask all runners to take extra care and be mindful of other road and path users at all times.
Marshals will be positioned at all major road crossings and at the railway level crossing. All runners must follow marshal instructions at all times. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
As this is an open course, runners do not have right of way. Please be courteous, sensible, and respectful when passing members of the public.
Finally, we ask all participants to help us protect the local environment by ensuring that no litter is dropped anywhere on the course.
