Tenacious Ten Hour Endurance Challenge
The Tenacious Ten Hour Endurance Challenge is a timed 10-hour loop race held on Mynydd Troed in the Black Mountains, Powys. The course is a short loop of about 2.7 miles with more than 1000 ft of elevation gain per lap. The route is fully marked and includes several false summits on the ascent, runnable sections, steep technical downhills, and open common trails.
The first lap is run clockwise; after that, runners may choose the direction for subsequent laps. Two clip stations are located on the route, one at the trig point and one at the base of the mountain. Competitors use a laminated card to record completed laps. A strict 10-hour cutoff applies; any lap not completed before the final bell will not be recorded.
Entries are accepted for solo runners, pairs, and teams of four. Entry fees are: Solo £60.00, Pair £110.00, Team of 4 £170.00. Team totals are the collective number of laps completed; teams remain valid even if a member withdraws.
Mandatory kit requirements: waterproof jacket and trousers (weather dependent), race vest with capacity to carry water, telephone, hat and gloves, appropriate trail footwear, first aid kit, and foil blanket. The event provides refreshments, toilets, parking, a full medical team, a refuel zone, bespoke medals, and prizes including a handcrafted Welsh slate trophy for first place.
Organizers note that some details are weather dependent and strict rules and medical discretion apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
