St. Barnabas Free Care 5K - 35th Annual Event
For over 30 years, runners and philanthropists alike have gathered at our 5K to raise money for the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which provides more than $6 million in free care to patients in need every year. We invite people of all ages and skill levels - including competitive and amateur runners, joggers, walkers, teams, and stroller and wheelchair users - to join us for our 35th annual Free Care 5K, benefiting a great cause!

$30 before race day
$35 day of race
Entry fees are non-refundable, and no inline skates, pets, or smoking are allowed.
Packet Pick-Up
- Thursday, July 30 – 3:00-7:00 pm at The Washington Place at St. Barnabas, 5847 Meridian Rd
- Saturday, August 1 – 7:00-8:30 am at St. Barnabas Medical Center Drive, 5830 Meridian Rd
Race Features
- The start line corral reduces congestion.
- The rolling 3.1-mile out-and-back course is USA Track & Field-certified.
- ChampionChip timing allows you to get your true running time from start to finish line.
- A post-race party is open to participants with dozens of raffle prizes and a prize for the top fundraiser.
Team Competition Rules
- There must be three to five people per team, including at least one female.
- Team entries must have a team name.
- Teams must register in advance.
Awards and Prizes
Come to the St. Barnabas Medical Center lawn immediately following the race for our awards ceremony and post-race party. We will have free food and beverages, music, and more. We will also be giving away dozens of prizes in our post-race drawing. Awards will be presented to the overall first, second, and third-place winners, as well as prizes for top runners in each category.
- $250 cash prize for first-place male and female finishers
- $150 cash prize for second-place male and female finishers
- $100 cash prize for third-place male and female finishers
- First, second, and third-place prizes for the top overall runners in each age range, wheelchair racers, and teams
- Prizes for the fastest Master runner (40-49 years of age) and Grand Master runner (50+ years of age)
