Spire Ultra - 33 Mile Trail Race
The Spire Ultra is a 33 mile trail race now in its ninth year. The route largely follows the Chesterfield Round Walk, a waymarked circuit that passes the town known for its Crooked Spire. The course covers a variety of terrain including high moorland, ancient woodland, reservoirs, rolling farmland and restored former mining areas.
The route is largely unmarked, with a few trickier navigation sections marked by the organisers. Route notes and GPX files are provided and some Chesterfield Round Walk waymarks appear along the course; a paper map can be used as a backup for navigation.
Registration takes place at North Wingfield Community Resource Centre, Whiteleas Avenue, North Wingfield, S42 5PW, from 8am to 8:45am. Free car parking is available at the centre and on nearby estate roads.
