South Coast Challenge
The South Coast Challenge runs along the South Downs Way with an Eastbourne start and an Arundel finish. The route passes Beachy Head, the Seven Sisters and a Brighton halfway point, and includes sections such as Devil's Dyke. The event is scheduled for 5-6 Sept 2026 and accommodates about 2,000 participants.
Entrants can walk, jog or run and choose from multiple distance options:
- 100 km
- 50 km
- 25 km
Support is provided throughout the route. Rest stops are placed roughly every 12.5 km with major stops at about 25 km, 50 km, 75 km and 100 km. Each stop offers snacks, meals at approximately every 25 km, hot drinks, water and energy drinks. Lighter options are available for runners and dietary requirements are catered for. Rest stops include covered infrastructure, seating, toilets, medical and changing areas, baggage pick up and staffed assistance.
Safety and routing features include a fully signed route with pink arrows and glow-sticks for night sections, GPS tracking via the event app, and a timing system that scans progress at rest stops. Medical teams, podiatrists and massage staff are available at stops and on the route. Camping packages and a base camp with hot showers are offered for multi day participants. Shuttle buses and transfers support travel to and from nearby stations and finish locations. Corporate team entries and hospitality options are available. Before your Challenge: Good preparation & smart planning are key to successfully completing an Ultra Challenge. From the moment you sign up you’ll have access to our Challenge App, with training guides, optional training walks & runs, maps, on the day info, and online forums. We will also keep you updated with any news & challenge updates via notifications through the app and emails.

Covered Rest Stops: We have Rest Stops every 12.5 km or so with ‘major’ ones at ~25/50/75/100 km. Our Rest Stops are like no others – along side a large medical area and catering services they are all covered infrastructure (to keep you out of the sun or rain!) – here there will be a place to sit down and put your feet up, use any of the facilities (toilets, medics, changing rooms, rest areas, baggage pick up).
