Smalley 5 Bells Main Race
Smalley Road Runners invites you to the Smalley 5 Bells, a challenging yet enjoyable 5-mile multi-terrain trail race suitable for all levels of runners. The course winds through beautiful woodland, bridleways, and rural paths around Smalley, Mapperley, and Shipley Country Park.
Date and Time: Saturday, 4th July 2026, starting at 10:00 AM.
Capacity: Limited to 450 participants.
What to Expect: A licensed, fully marshalled, and timed 5-mile route. Water stations will be available at Mapperley Reservoir and the finish line. Parking will be provided on Bell Lane, which will operate a one-way system during the event.
Finisher Rewards: Every finisher receives a race t-shirt and a medal. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed for entries made by 17th May.
Prizes: Awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd male and female finishers, as well as spot prizes and a team trophy.
Race Village: Features food vendors, an ice cream van, a sports therapist, representation from the Woodland Trust, children's inflatables, toilet facilities, first aid, and a bag drop.
Registration: Sign up via Smalley 5 Bells | AV Timing. Entry is open until 30 minutes before the race or until full. Race numbers can be collected on race day.
Smalley 5 Bells Fun Run
A separate 1-mile fun run around the event field, featuring colour stations that mark participants with coloured powder. Finishers receive a medal, and an optional t-shirt is available for an additional fee.
Why Smalley 5 Bells?
The race is named after the five bells housed in the St John the Baptist Church in Smalley village, a significant part of the village's heritage. The name also ties in with the 5-mile distance of the race, as a thank you to the local community for their support.
